Barcelona has settled on the identity of the striker who will succeed Robert Lewandowski in leading the Catalan club’s attack in the future.
According to journalist Jose Alvarez, Barcelona’s management has a great passion to sign Newcastle star Alexander Isak.
The Swedish striker is in a great state of brilliance this season, as he scored 19 goals and made 5 others in 28 matches in all competitions with the Magpies.
Barcelona’s mission will not be easy in obtaining Isak’s services, as he is receiving interest from many clubs, most notably Liverpool.
As for the player, he initially welcomes the move to Barcelona, but Newcastle remains a major obstacle in this deal.
The English club is still determined to sell Isak for at least 150 million euros, and has negotiating power given that the 27-year-old’s contract extends until the summer of 2028 and without penalty clauses.
Barcelona will try next summer to reduce this required value in line with its financial capabilities, even if it is very difficult.
If Isaac joins Barça, it will not be his first experience in La Liga, as he previously played for Real Sociedad from 2019 until he was sold to Newcastle for 70 million euros in 2022.
