Sport newspaper reported that Barcelona is very close to finalizing its first summer deal after reaching an advanced stage in negotiations with Jonathan Tah.
The German defender’s contract expires at the end of the current season with Bayer Leverkusen, and he has announced that he will leave the Bay Arena amid great interest from Bayern Munich and Barcelona.
According to recent news, Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, is close to reaching an agreement with Tah’s agent, Pini Zahavi, on all the details.
Tah could sign his transfer contracts to Barcelona next January, and most likely the Barca management is currently working on that to secure the player’s arrival at Camp Nou starting next summer.
At the same time, Tah’s joining will mean there is a glut of players in the center-back position, which requires selling at least one of them.
Sport confirms that Barcelona’s management does not intend to let go of Ronald Araujo, and that he is one of the mainstays of coach Hansi Flick’s squad.
Barca’s management is currently leaning towards dispensing with the duo Eric Garcia and Andreas Christensen next summer, or at least one of them, to provide a place for him, whether sportingly or economically.
