The Spanish League continued its stubbornness, and refused to register Dani Olmo and Pau Victor in Barcelona’s roster despite all the attempts made by the Catalan club in the past hours.
Barcelona succeeded in returning to the 1:1 rule and consequently can conclude new deals, but it still cannot register Olmo as well as Pau Victor.
La Liga’s argument is clear, which is that a player cannot be re-registered in the same club twice during the same season, and therefore Barcelona’s last chance to register the duo was December 31.
Barcelona tried to convince La Liga and the Spanish Federation to consider “force majeure” as the reason for the failure of registration, but the two bodies refused to grant the Catalans an exception to register the players.
According to the newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona will resort to its last option, which is to submit an urgent request to the Administrative Court of Sports or resort to the regular judiciary to resolve this crisis.
Barcelona will be asked to amend the regulations that stipulate that the registration period closes on December 31 for players whose contracts were valid until that date.
If the Blaugrana’s efforts succeed, the registration period will be extended to February 2 (the end of the winter transfer window) and then they can register Olmo and Victor and end the crisis.
In principle, Olmo and Victor are not expected to make it to the Spanish Super Cup semi-final against Athletic Bilbao, but if Barça succeed in the case, it will be closed before the final on Sunday, January 12.
