Barcelona fans took advantage of the Monaco match in the Joan Gamper Trophy friendly to express their desire for two of coach Hansi Flick’s stars to leave.
According to the newspaper “Sport”, after the match and during the traditional team presentation at the Olympic Luis Companys Stadium, the Barcelona fans booed Frenkie de Jong and Clement Lenglet.
The newspaper attributed the fans’ reaction towards De Jong to him being the highest-paid player at the Catalan club, a factor that is contributing to the current financial crisis as he refuses to leave despite all the offers he has received.
As for Lenglet, the player has never lived up to expectations in a Barcelona shirt, is not popular with the fans, and his large salary remains a major problem for Joan Laporta’s administration.
Barcelona’s management is still trying to get rid of the French defender, who has refused to move to Saudi Arabia and is determined to stay in Europe, but he has not received any offers, even on loan.
The Spanish media had indicated that Flick is impressed with Lenglet’s performance and may include him in the squad for the new season and rely on him after his good performance in training.
