AS newspaper reported that Barcelona officials have entered into serious negotiations with former Real Madrid star Borja Mayoral to sign him in the current summer Mercato.
Mayoral is a member of the Real Madrid Academy. He played 33 matches with the Royal Club in all tournaments, during which he scored 7 goals and assisted 4 others.
The Spanish striker was loaned to more than one club before settling in Getafe in the summer of 2022, in exchange for 10 million euros paid to Real Madrid’s coffers.
According to the latest report, the Barcelona administration is about to loan Vitor Roque during the Mercato, and is looking for an alternative striker who will not cost them much and can score goals.
For this reason, attention turned to Mayoral, who is the best Spanish striker in La Liga after he scored 15 goals last season for Getafe.
The 27-year-old has not participated since last March due to a torn knee ligament, but he is supposed to be ready in the coming months to return to the field again.
It is not yet known how Mayoral responded to the Catalan offer, but most likely he will agree without a doubt, and what remains is the agreement between Getafe and Barcelona on a value commensurate with the difficult economic situation in the Blaugrana.
