Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo has reported that Barcelona has submitted an improved offer to Leipzig in an attempt to secure the services of Dani Olmo during the current summer transfer window.
Signing Olmo has become an absolute priority for the Catalan club, especially after the chances of signing Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao decreased. With that, the Spanish international will be the only attacking reinforcement this summer.
Barcelona had previously submitted an offer that Leipzig’s management described as “ridiculous” with a value of 40 million euros payable in annual installments over four years, plus another 20 million in variables.
According to the Catalan newspaper, the improved offer is now a payment of 47 million euros upfront, with 3 million as easily achievable variables depending on the number of matches the player will play.
In addition to the above, 10 million euros will be paid as bonuses to the German club in case Olmo achieves collective titles with Barcelona.
Earlier, German newspapers said that Leipzig would not give up 60 million euros to allow Olmo to be sold, but perhaps Barcelona’s improved offer, along with the player’s pressure, could change this situation.
The deal is not expected to be completed while Barca is on its US tour, and all that sporting director Deco is trying to do is finalize it before the start of La Liga on August 17.
It is worth mentioning that Olmo has ignored significant offers from more stable clubs like Bayern Munich and Manchester City, just to fulfill his dream of returning to Barcelona, which the Barca management greatly appreciates.
