Barcelona president Joan Laporta launched a fierce attack on Real Madrid, calling the Royal Club’s actions against his club “deviant.”
Laporta was asked about the nature of his relationship with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, and he answered in clear terms, “Our relationship with Real Madrid is bad because of their interference in the Negereira case.”
He also added, “Real Madrid intervened in this case and wants to keep the matter alive so that they can say what they are promoting about our benefit from arbitration.”
He continued, “What Real Madrid is doing is a real deviation. They say that Barça is the one who influences the referees? The truth is the opposite. They are playing a double game that is never true.”
As for what Real Madrid TV is attacking the refereeing, he said, “I am very angry at what they are doing. It is a real shame, and officials should intervene because this affects the referees on a weekly basis.”
He concluded, “If Barcelona had been the one doing this, we would have been criminalized a long time ago and heavy penalties would have been imposed on us. What they are doing makes the competition fraudulent by all standards.”
It remains to be noted that Real Madrid leads the Spanish League standings, 8 points behind Barcelona, with only 9 rounds remaining until the end of the League.
