Juventus is preparing to submit an offer that is seen as “comic” to sign one of Barcelona’s stars during the current winter transfer period.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that the Bianconeri have renewed their interest in the current Barça defender and captain, Ronald Araujo, and are seeking to sign him in light of the central defender crisis in Thiago Motta’s squad.
It is no secret that Juventus’ economic situation is not much better than Barcelona’s, as the Italian club does not have a lot of money, which is the biggest obstacle to signing Araujo.
Juve wants to offer Barcelona the services of the Uruguayan defender on loan for 6 months, with the inclusion of a purchase clause next summer.
In addition to Araujo’s great value and Barcelona’s lack of intention to dispense with him at least this winter, it is not expected that Juventus will be able to pay more than 80 million euros to sign the player this year.
On the other hand, Barcelona and Araujo’s negotiations to renew his contract beyond 2026 are ongoing and in advanced stages, which makes Juventus’ offer not worrying in any way.
In general, in practice, only a top club in England can sign Araujo, whether due to Barcelona’s financial demands, or the huge salary that the player himself wants.
