Despite the fierce competition between them, the sportsmanship overcame everything in the end, and Barcelona demonstrated it after Real Madrid was crowned champion of the Spanish League.
The Catalan club had lost to its neighbor Girona 4-2, and with it the curtain came down on the struggle for the La Liga title and Real Madrid won it for the thirty-sixth time in its history.
In the first reaction from Barca, the club published on its official platforms congratulations to its eternal rival, Real Madrid, for achieving the title.
Barcelona’s account on the X platform wrote, “Congratulations to Real Madrid on winning the Spanish League title.”
This is not the first time that Barcelona has congratulated Real Madrid or vice versa, as this is a method followed among the Spanish League clubs, and the majority of the world’s clubs in general.
Real Madrid beat Barcelona 3 times this season, twice in the Spanish League, and once in the Saudi Super Cup final 4-1.
Barcelona is the second most decorated club in La Liga, having won the title on 27 occasions, most recently last season.
