Barcelona star suffers surprise injury that forces him to miss Real Sociedad match

Coach Hansi Flick has announced the Barcelona squad that will head to Anoeta Stadium to play Real Sociedad in the thirteenth round of La Liga.

There was some good news in the squad, represented by the presence of Pau Cubarsi despite the severe injury he suffered against Red Star Belgrade in his face.

Although the duo Lamine Yamal and Dani Olmo did not participate in the last training session, Flick included them in the squad, and they are expected to be on the bench.

The only bad news for Barça was the surprise absence of Hector Fort, which the club justified in an official statement by saying that he suffered from muscle discomfort that prevented him from traveling to San Sebastian.

It was expected that Fort would participate in the starting lineup and Cubarsi would remain on the bench, but after the latest developments, Flick may be forced to include the 17-year-old regardless of his injury.

The Barça squad witnessed the usual absences represented by goalkeeper Ter Stegen and the defensive trio Eric Garcia, Andreas Christensen and Ronald Araujo, in addition to Ferran Torres and Marc Bernal, all due to injuries.

It is worth noting that Barcelona leads the La Liga standings by 6 points over Real Madrid, after winning 10 matches and suffering a single defeat, which was against Osasuna.
