Barcelona surrenders and withdraws from the race to sign Bernardo Silva

Barcelona dropped out of the race to sign Manchester City star Bernardo Silva for purely economic reasons.

Over the past two years, the Portuguese star has been frequently linked to joining Barcelona, but the difficult economic situation at Camp Nou prevented the player from joining the Catalan club.

Silva has a release clause of 50 million euros until the last days of June, but Barcelona cannot currently pay him, which means he has to negotiate with Manchester City.

According to what was reported by the newspaper “Marca”, the English club will not agree to sell Bernardo, and even if it agrees, it will not be able to wait until the end of the Mercato for Barcelona to complete the deal.

In practice, Barcelona can only include Silva at the end of August when the club succeeds in improving its economic situation, which makes the deal practically impossible.

The efforts of Joan Laporta’s administration will currently focus on finding a solution to keep Joao Cancelo permanently with the Hansi Flick squad, as well as completing the transfer of Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid.
