The Barcelona administration asked Rafinha to leave next summer, after assuring him that he would play a secondary role if he continued with Xavi Hernandez’s squad.
The Catalan club is looking to sell Rafinha for a huge sum, whether inside or outside Europe, in order to finance other deals to strengthen the team before the important and difficult next season.
According to the newspaper “Sport”, Xavi does not think that the Brazilian player can be used technically, and if he continues, he will be the third option on the right wing, and his only hope is to play on the left front, which he is not proficient in participating in either.
Because of this, the Barça administration was clear with Rafinha that his continuation was not in everyone’s interest, and clearly informed him of the reality of things in the hope that his urgent desire to continue at Camp Nou would change.
At the same time, the Barcelona administration respects Rafinha’s desire to continue as a substitute and will not put pressure on him. However, it hopes that he will understand the situation and choose the most appropriate solution for all parties by leaving.
The Spanish media had previously revealed that Saudi League clubs have an interest in the Brazilian winger and are willing to pay 80 to 100 million euros to sign him, an amount that can solve many of Barcelona’s crises.
Rafinha joined Barcelona in the summer of 2022 from Leeds United for 58 million euros, and since then he has participated in 85 matches, during which he scored 19 goals and assisted 24 others.
