The newspaper “Sport” reported that Barcelona’s management tried to pounce on the Alphonso Davies deal in the past few days and snatch it from Real Madrid.
Davies’ contract with his current club Bayern Munich ends at the end of the current season, and so far he has not reached an agreement to renew, which will allow him to sign wherever he wants starting next January.
Barcelona negotiates with Davies’ agent
According to the newspaper “Sport”, Davies’ agent was in Spain last week where he met with Real Madrid officials first in the capital to discuss his client’s future.
After that, the agent traveled to the Catalonia region in light of what Barcelona’s management showed of interest in obtaining Davies’ signature.
Barcelona wants to support the left-back position, considering that the only option currently available is Alejandro Balde, and there is a belief that Davies will be an ideal choice for this purpose.
What strengthens the desire of the Blaugrana to sign the 23-year-old is the coach Hansi Flick, with whom Davies’ abilities exploded and the two enjoy a special relationship with each other.
Davies shocks Barcelona
Despite Davies and his agent welcoming the idea of moving to Barcelona, they have in fact shocked Joan Laporta’s administration.
The newspaper “Sport” reported that Davies’ agent exaggerated the financial demands, which seem impossible for Barça at this stage.
Davies wants to receive a transfer bonus of 10 million euros, in addition to a high salary that will also exceed 10 million euros.
Laporta’s administration does not see the deal as economically feasible due to these demands, but rather it will increase the burden on the treasury, while supporting the left-back position is not a top priority to the point of paying these large sums of money.
Bayern Munich have not lost hope in keeping Davies
It remains to be noted that Bayern Munich have not lost hope in convincing Davies to renew his contract, and the renewal offer with a salary of up to 15 million euros annually is still on the player’s table.
But indications say that Davies will leave the Bavarian club next summer, and it is most likely that Real Madrid will be the one to sign him due to the insistence of President Florentino Perez on this particular deal.
