Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez expressed his extreme frustration over the injuries to Pedri and Frenkie de Jong, stressing that the initial diagnosis of the two injuries appears to be very bad.
Pedri and De Jong were unable to complete the match against Athletic Bilbao after suffering injuries, and the former in particular came out crying in intense pain.
Xavi said in the press conference after the match, which ended in a scoreless draw, “The doctors told me that Frenkie and Pedri’s injuries do not look good at all.”
He also added, “Now Frenkie and Pedri are with Javi outside the team. It is very difficult because the midfield players are the ones who give the team character.”
He concluded, “We have to support Pedri. He worked hard to come back. Unfortunately, he was injured again, but I am sure he will come back stronger.”
It is noteworthy that Barcelona is already suffering from the absence of Gavi, Marcos Alonso, Alejandro Balde and Ferran Torres due to various injuries, and now Pedri and De Jong are joining the list.
