Bayern Munich announced that the legend Manuel Neuer is about to renew his contract with the Bavarian club for another year.
Neuer’s current contract expires at the end of the current season, and rumors were circulating that the historic goalkeeper was on his way to retiring from football.
However, Bayern Munich’s sporting director, Max Eberl, confirmed that the renewal negotiations between the 38-year-old and Bayern have reached their final stages, and it is a matter of time before the renewal between the two parties will be announced.
Thus, Neuer will continue until the summer of 2026, noting that he will not participate in the next World Cup after he decided to retire internationally following Euro 2024.
Neuer will continue on the pitches until he reaches the age of forty, and his contract is not expected to be renewed after 2026, at which point he will undoubtedly retire from football permanently.
Bayern Munich’s plan is to sign a young goalkeeper to prepare him to succeed Neuer, specifically the promising Cologne goalkeeper Jonas Orbig.
Bayern also have German international goalkeeper Alexander Nubel on loan to Stuttgart until the end of the current season, with the possibility of renewing the loan for another year if Neuer renews.
It is worth noting that Neuer joined Bayern Munich in 2011 from Schalke, and since then he has become one of the most important players in Bayern’s history and has revolutionized the world of goalkeeping with his ability to play with his feet.
