Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala expressed his love for Barcelona, assuring that the Catalan club was his favorite team in his childhood.
Musiala’s statements come at the same time that the Bavarian club is engaged in intensive negotiations with him to renew his contract without reaching an agreement between the two parties so far.
In an interview with Bild newspaper, Musiala said about Barça, “Barcelona was my favorite team, I had Messi’s shirt and I still have it to this day.”
He also added, “I remember very well the midfield with Xavi, Iniesta and Busquets, they always amazed me, I used to watch Barcelona matches over and over again.”
He concluded, “Most of my shirts when I was young were Messi’s, I also had Neymar’s shirt, but Messi remains my role model and hero.”
Musiala’s contract, 21, with Bayern Munich extends until the summer of 2026, and so far the renewal negotiations with the Bavarians are faltering.
Some Catalan newspapers have linked Musiala with joining Barca, especially since he has a strong relationship with coach Hansi Flick, but it is unlikely that a deal of this size will happen in the summer of 2025.
