Bild reported that Saudi club Al-Ittihad made a large offer to sign Bayern Munich star Leroy Sané next summer.
Sane’s contract with the Bavarian club expires at the end of this season, and Al-Ittihad wanted to take advantage of this and sign him on a free transfer.
The Saudi club’s offer included a large transfer bonus, as well as an annual salary of €25 million, which even exceeds his current salary at Bayern Munich.
However, Sané rejected the Saudi offer, making it clear that money was not his priority; rather, he wanted to continue with Bayern and renew his contract.
Bayern officials appreciated Sané’s kind gesture, and the player subsequently accepted a significant salary reduction just to remain at the Allianz Arena.
All indications are that the 30-year-old will extend his contract with Bayern, despite all the criticism he has received due to his declining performances over the past two years.
Arsenal also wanted to sign Sané, but the player did not want to return to the Premier League and rejected the English offer as well.
It’s worth noting that Sané joined Bayern Munich in the summer of 2020 from Manchester City in a massive deal that cost the German club €50 million.
