Inter Miami owner David Beckham has revealed that Lionel Messi intends to return to Barcelona and live there after his football career ends.
Messi has always stressed that he and his family have suffered a lot since leaving Barcelona, and have completely failed to adapt in Paris, but things have started to improve a little in America.
The English football legend said about Messi and his close relationship with Barcelona, ”I would have liked Messi to live in Miami after he retires.”
He also added, “Messi told me he intends to live near Camp Nou, I understand that, there is no player who loves Barcelona like him.”
He continued, “You can see the Barcelona logo on his leg and even on his water bottle.”
He concluded, “The United States of America is the land of opportunity, this is what happened to me when I first came here, now I am here in Miami sitting in my chair and I see Leo entering the field and I feel very proud of that.”
Messi’s contract with Inter Miami expires at the end of next season, but negotiations between him and his club are in advanced stages to renew his contract for another year.
During the new contract, Messi can move on loan to any European club, and talk has begun to increase about the possibility of his return to Barcelona again for a short period in preparation for the 2026 World Cup.
