The German “Sky” network revealed that Bayern Munich’s management, represented by sporting director Max Eberl, contacted coach Julen Lopetegui on Monday to seek his opinion about assuming responsibility for coaching the team in the next season.
Over the past months, 3 coaches refused to coach Bayern to succeed Thomas Tuchel: Julian Nagelsmann, Xabi Alonso, and finally Ralf Rangnick, so the search for a new coach at Allianz Arena continues.
Bayern’s eyes went to Lopetegui, who has a long history in European football, but the surprise was that the coach rejected the idea and preferred another idea, which is to coach West Ham next season.
The English club is in advanced negotiations with Lopetegui, and the final details are currently being discussed to succeed David Moyes, who was decided to be sacked at the end of this season.
Lopetegui has an unsuccessful experience with Real Madrid, but he has a number of distinguished experiences, such as Porto and Wolverhampton. He also led Sevilla to win the European League, and was a coach for Spain’s junior national teams all the way to the first team.
With Lopetegui’s refusal, Bayern’s options continue to shrink again, especially since Brighton coach Roberto De Zerbe has announced his intention to continue leading the English club next season.
