Argentine media reported that the management of the Saudi Al-Ittihad Club decided to dismiss coach Marcelo Gallardo from his position.
The Argentine took over the job of coaching Al-Ittihad last November, succeeding sacked coach Nuno Santo, with a contract extended until the summer of 2025.
Gallardo failed to win any championship with Al-Ittihad over the course of the season, with a severe decline in performance and results and disagreements with various stars, led by Karim Benzema.
It was said earlier that the French star had already asked the Al-Ittihad club management to dismiss Gallardo, who was very stubborn with him in many different situations.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Al-Ittihad Club will dismiss Gallardo, but the difference within the administration currently is whether the step will be taken now or after the end of the season, that is, after two weeks.
The 48-year-old managed 30 matches for Al-Ittihad in all tournaments, winning only 14 of them and losing 13 times, most recently against Al-Ittifaq 5-0.
Gallardo lost 5 times to Al Hilal in 3 different tournaments, and Al-Ittihad practically lost the opportunity to participate in the AFC Champions League next season, as it occupied fifth place in the Saudi League.
