Al-Ittihad star Steven Bergwijn stressed that the Saudi League is very strong, and advised the Netherlands national team coach Ronald Koeman to come and follow the competition to see how strong it really is.
Bergwijn had participated in the big win that Al-Ittihad achieved over Al-Wehda 7-1 in the Roshen League on Sunday, to take advantage of the event and attack Koeman again.
Koeman had announced that Bergwijn would not join the Netherlands again due to his transfer to the Saudi League, so the player later said that he did not want to work with this coach.
Bergwijn said after the Al-Wehda match, “The world sees the strength and quality of the Saudi League.”
He also added, “Perhaps those who criticize the Saudi League should come here to see first.”
He continued, “The league now includes a large number of distinguished players, so I see it as a really competitive and strong league.”
He concluded, “Perhaps some (Koeman) think that the league is not good, but they should first come here and see the truth and then speak.”
