The Carabao Cup semi-final draw took place late on Thursday night, and it produced two very exciting and competitive clashes.
Arsenal qualified first after beating Crystal Palace 3-2, followed by Newcastle and Liverpool with victories over Newcastle and Southampton.
Manchester United were eliminated from the competition in the quarter-finals after a marathon match with Tottenham on Thursday at Old Trafford, which the London club won 4-3.
The semi-final draw produced a strong clash between Arsenal and Newcastle, while the other match will be very strong and fiery between Liverpool and Tottenham.
The semi-finals will be played on a two-leg basis, and an away goal does not count as a double, just as has been the case in the Champions League in recent years.
The first legs will be played on January 7 and 8, while the second legs will be on February 4 and 5.
The first leg between Arsenal and Newcastle will be played at the Emirates Stadium, while the second leg will be at St James’ Park, while Liverpool will visit Tottenham in the first leg and host them at Anfield in the second leg.
It is worth noting that Liverpool is the club that has won the Carabao Cup the most times in history with 10 titles, and they are also the title holders in last season’s edition, which was Jurgen Klopp’s last title as the Reds’ manager.
