The seventh round of the league stage of the 2025 Champions League was very exciting, during which many teams secured their qualification to the round of 16 or at least the play-offs.
The competition to qualify for the play-offs continues until the last round, and many teams have equal chances to catch up with the top eight and qualify directly to the round of 16.
The seventh round witnessed exciting matches, most notably Barcelona’s 5-4 victory over Benfica, and Real Madrid’s 5-1 victory over Salzburg.
Perhaps one of the biggest surprises was Bayern Munich’s defeat in the Netherlands by Feyenoord 2-0, while Manchester City continued its collapse and was defeated by Paris Saint-Germain in France.

Only Liverpool and Barcelona have secured direct qualification to the round of 16 in the Champions League 2025.
Arsenal are also guaranteed, as they have a goal difference of 11 goals, compared to only 5 goals for Aston Villa, who are ninth, so even if they lose the final round, they are unlikely to lose their place in the top 8.

Arsenal, Aston Villa, Atalanta, Atletico Madrid, Brest, Inter, Bayer Leverkusen, Lille, Monaco are all guaranteed, at worst, to play in the round of 16 play-off.
Brest, Feyenoord, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Juventus, Celtic, are also guaranteed to be in the play-off.
There is a looming danger for Manchester City, if they do not win against Club Brugge in the final round, they will officially exit the competition after losing 4-2 to Paris Saint-Germain in this round.
