City star absent from Real Madrid match due to injury

Manchester City’s suffering has increased before the match against Real Madrid in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16, after a new star was injured.

Akanji left the first leg against Real Madrid at half-time due to a muscle injury.

According to the English media, Manuel Akanji will not be able to participate against Los Blancos in the second leg next Wednesday due to this injury.

The Swiss international’s absence will not stop at the Real match only, but will extend to include the Newcastle match before it, as well as the Liverpool match at Anfield after it.

Akanji will need 8-10 weeks to recover and be able to participate again with coach Pep Guardiola’s squad.

Because of this injury, Guardiola will have to rely on young Rico Lewis in the right-back position to replace Akanji in the absence of another after Kyle Walker’s departure to Milan.

It is noteworthy that Akanji, 29, participated in 30 matches this season in all tournaments, during which he did not score, but he made one goal.
