Manchester City star, Rodri, confirmed that he was very surprised by Cristiano Ronaldo’s reaction and the statements he made about the Spanish star winning the Ballon d’Or 2024.
During the Globe Soccer Awards ceremony, Ronaldo said that Vinicius Junior was more deserving of the Ballon d’Or, and that this award is generally unfair.
In an interview with the Spanish media, Rodri responded to what the Don said, “It was surprising to me what he said, he knows more than anyone else what the Golden Ball criteria are and how the winner is chosen.”
He also added, “This year, the journalists decided that I am the one who deserves to win the award, and perhaps these same journalists are the ones who previously voted for him to win the award.”
He concluded, “I think at that time, he would have agreed to win the award without objection!”.
Ronaldo has previously won the Ballon d’Or on 5 previous occasions, but the record remains in the name of Lionel Messi, who has won 8 Golden Balls throughout his legendary career.
