Court shocks Barcelona again over Olmo registration

Barcelona have failed in their appeal to register Dani Olmo for the second half of the season, just one day before the start of the winter transfer window.

Barcelona signed Olmo from RB Leipzig for €60m in August, but he was only registered for the first half of the season due to the club’s inability to comply with La Liga’s salary cap rules.

Barcelona’s bid to re-register Olmo was rejected by the court last week, and a second court upheld the decision on Monday, leaving the Blaugrana in serious trouble.

According to La Liga, the court rejected Barcelona’s request to pre-register Olmo after “none of the conditions necessary to adopt precautionary measures were met”.

Barcelona now have only one option to register Olmo, which is to complete the sale of Camp Nou’s premium seats, estimated at €100m, but that also requires La Liga’s approval.

If Olmo is not registered before December 31, he will be eligible to move to any club for free during the winter transfer window.
