Al-Nassr captain Cristiano Ronaldo has expressed support for Saudi Arabia’s bid to host the 2034 World Cup in a message on the X platform.
Saudi Arabia officially submitted its bid to host the World Cup to FIFA on Monday.
So far, there are no competitors for Saudi Arabia to host this historic event, and it is expected that FIFA will officially award the hosting honor in the coming weeks.
For his part, 39-year-old Ronaldo wrote about the Saudi file: “The Saudi bid invites the world to join us on our journey of remarkable transformation as a global sports destination.”
Ronaldo is expected to do more than just supportive tweets, as he will be one of the ambassadors for the Saudi file, as stipulated in his current contract with Al-Nassr.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino had confirmed a year ago that the 2034 World Cup would be held on Saudi soil, and submitting the file is the official step to confirm that now.
