The FA Cup will witness a rare historical event, when a father plays against his son in an incident that may happen for the first time in English stadiums.
The draw for the third round resulted in a confrontation between Everton and Peterborough United, to be held on January 11 at Goodison Park.
As soon as the result was announced, Everton star Ashley Young posted a tweet in which he wrote: “Finally a dream come true in the FA Cup.”
Here Young means that his son Tyler plays for Peterborough United, and thus the stadium will witness a confrontation between the two in an event that rarely happens in football.
Ashley Young has a long career in the Premier League, having played more than 200 games for Manchester United and also played for England at the 2018 World Cup.
Ashley Young is 39 years old, while his son Tyler is 18 years old, and fate has willed that they meet even if they are rivals on the football pitch.
This rare event is a dream of many players, most notably Cristiano Ronaldo, who said that he will try to continue on the pitch until his son Junior grows up and plays with him even if it is a match.
