Marca reported that Manchester City will attempt to sign Barcelona star Pedri during the upcoming summer transfer window, considering him the ideal replacement for Kevin De Bruyne in Pep Guardiola’s midfield.
Pedri just renewed his contract with Barcelona until the summer of 2028, with a release clause of up to €1 billion. The Catalan club’s management is determined to keep him as a key player in the Blaugrana project.
According to the Spanish newspaper, City is willing to pay €100 million for Pedri’s services, and may increase the offer further in an attempt to tempt Barcelona to let him go.
So far, Joan Laporta’s administration has no intention of even entering into negotiations regarding Pedri, considering him, and specifically Lamine Yamal, untouchable, regardless of the financial temptations, given the dire economic crisis at Camp Nou.
Pedri, for his part, also prefers to remain at Barcelona, and has expressed this on several occasions. However, the arrival of Pep Guardiola could change things somewhat, although the 23-year-old’s priority remains Barça, regardless of the temptations.
It should be noted that Pedri is in exceptional form this season, having scored five goals and provided seven assists in 44 appearances in all competitions for Barcelona, making him a candidate for the Ballon d’Or.
