Transfer specialist Gianluca Di Marzio has revealed that David de Gea’s return to professional football is nearing completion through an Italian club.
Since leaving Manchester United in the summer of 2023, De Gea has not joined any club despite being linked with several top clubs in England and the Saudi Pro League.
The Spanish goalkeeper posted a tweet in recent days saying that he would soon announce his new destination.
According to Di Marzio, De Gea is at the top of Genoa’s shortlist to strengthen the goalkeeping position during the current summer transfer window.
It is not expected that agreeing on personal terms will be a problem between the club and the player, especially since De Gea is eager to return to football.
Genoa finished 11th in the Italian league last season and is currently coached by Italian football legend Alberto Gilardino.
