Mundo Deportivo reported that Frenkie de Jong is very close to returning to participate in Barcelona matches.
The Dutch international has been absent from Barcelona since last April due to an injury that was initially said to not even deprive him of Euro 2024, before his absence extended to more than 5 months.
De Jong returned to Barcelona’s group training last Monday, but coach Hansi Flick refused to return him to matches due to his lack of physical and technical readiness yet.
According to the latest report, Flick does not intend to risk De Jong, and will not include him in matches until he is sure that he is 100% ready.
The 26-year-old will not participate in the Getafe and Osasuna matches next week by Flick’s decision, and the opportunity will be available to him in the Young Boys match in the Champions League.
However, De Jong is unlikely to be in the Young Boys match, and his first appearance will most likely be against Alaves on Sunday, October 6.
