Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, confirmed that the renewal negotiations between the club and the duo Ronald Araujo and Frenkie de Jong are going very positively so far.
Araujo in particular finds himself the focus of attention of many major clubs, while De Jong’s crisis is his high salary and Barça’s desire to divide it over the years.
Deco spoke about Araujo, saying, “We are doing a very good job in this regard, and I think Ronaldo wants to continue at Barcelona for the coming years. We are building a team that will fight for all titles and he is aware of that.”
This news comes after other news a few days ago that Araujo, after he was inclined to leave, now prefers to continue at Barcelona as a result of what he saw as an exceptional situation with coach Hansi Flick and a clear-sighted sporting project.
It is assumed that the last few weeks have witnessed some meetings between Deco and Araujo’s agent, which according to the Spanish media is expected to add to the player’s contract renewal very soon and bring an end to the “headache” of interest from the giants of Europe in signing him.
On the other hand, Deco said about De Jong, “It is natural that we try to renew him given his high quality and experience, he can contribute to our successes, and it is our duty to work to keep him with us.”
Since his return from injury, De Jong has become a key element in Hansi Flick’s squad, and even the criticism he was exposed to from the fans has decreased a lot, which increases the possibility of him continuing at Camp Nou beyond the summer of 2026.
