Victor Christiansen confirmed that he deliberately entered violently on Lamine Yamal during the Denmark-Spain match in the European Nations League, to send him a clear message that it would never be an easy task for him.
Spain beat Denmark thanks to a goal from Martin Zubamendi, in a match in which Yamal was subjected to many violent interventions.
Speaking after the match, Kristiansen said: “What I did was a simple way to say to him: Hello Yamal, I am ready to fight too, I am not afraid of you at all.”
He added: “It is always difficult to decide how to defend when you face such a skilled winger. You can win every game for 89 minutes and in the last game he ends up scoring a goal. After that, it was all for nothing.”
The 21-year-old, who plays for Leicester City, concluded: “Yamal’s skill is great, especially when you consider his age. He will be one of the players in the world for many years to come, I have no doubt about that.”
It is noteworthy that after the match, Yamal was seen limping and suffering from pain in his left foot, as a result of which he will undergo tests to determine his ability to play in the match against Switzerland scheduled for next Tuesday.
