France coach Didier Deschamps confirmed that Kylian Mbappe is in a very bad physical and psychological state, which is why he decided to exclude him from the current international break.
The French coach’s statements came in response to what some media outlets reported that he excluded Mbappe from the current break to punish him for refusing to join the national team during the last break.
Deschamps said in this regard, “I certainly did not punish Kylian, he is currently going through a difficult period.”
He also added, “It is clear that he is not going through the best period of his career, however, he wanted to join us, and my decision was in his best interest.”
The French coach concluded, “I think it is better for him not to come to the national team now, as each of us sometimes goes through difficult periods, Mbappe is now going through physical and mental suffering.”
It is worth noting that Mbappe failed to score in his last 4 matches with Real Madrid in all tournaments, and was the subject of severe criticism, especially due to his level in El Clasico and falling into the offside trap 8 times.
