Barcelona coach Hansi Flick expressed overall satisfaction with the performance of the Catalan club in the friendly Clasico against Real Madrid but criticized how his team failed to press at times during the match.
The Blaugrana won 2-0 thanks to goals from Pau Victor, marking Barcelona’s fourth consecutive friendly win over Real Madrid in recent years.
Speaking to the media after the match played in the United States, Flick said, “We understand that it’s a Clasico even if it’s a friendly. I told the players that we want to see an improvement on the pitch compared to the last City match, and I think that happened.”
He added, “At times we dropped too deep during the match and didn’t press the player with the ball, that shouldn’t happen, it’s really a problem for me.”
He concluded, “It’s great to have players like Hector, Balde, and Alex who are only 16, 17, and 18 years old. Today’s match was a good opportunity to show what they are capable of.”
It’s worth noting that Barcelona will play one final friendly match against Milan in America before playing in the Joan Gamper Trophy against Monaco in Catalonia, after which their season will begin with a match against Valencia at Mestalla.
