Kylian Mbappe’s goal for Real Madrid against Girona on Saturday was not ordinary, but rather had a special historical value for the French star.
This was the 200th goal in Mbappe’s career in the five major leagues, with 191 goals in the French League, and 9 others with Real Madrid in the Spanish League.
Thus, Mbappe became the fourth youngest player to reach this number of goals in the five major leagues, at the age of 25 years and 11 months.
Only the legend Jimmy Greaves (23 years and 6 months), the English star Dixie Dean (25 years and 1 month), and finally Lionel Messi, who reached the same number at the age of (25 years and 7 months), preceded Mbappe.
Perhaps such achievements help Mbappe gain more confidence in light of the harsh criticism he has been subjected to since arriving at Real Madrid this season.
So far, the French star has not succeeded in providing the expected addition to Carlo Ancelotti’s squad, and he is suffering from a significant decline in his usual level, which raises doubts about the feasibility of the Royal Club’s contract with him.
It remains to be noted that Mbappe’s goal in Girona made him the third top scorer in the Spanish League this season, tied with Ante Budimir (9 goals each), while the lead remains in the hands of Robert Lewandowski with 16 goals.
