Barcelona received good news after Ronald Araujo underwent comprehensive medical tests on Monday morning.
The Uruguayan international left the match against Sevilla on Sunday with an injury that appeared severe, and fear gripped the hearts of Blaugrana fans about the possibility of a new long absence for him.
But according to Catalan press reports, the tests confirmed that Araujo is suffering from a bruise that is not serious at all.
Because of this bruise there is a slight inflammation in the ankle, but it is not a sprain as initial reports indicated.
Thus, Araujo will not be absent for long from Barcelona, and if he succeeds in recovering quickly, he may be at the top of coach Hansi Flick’s list for the match against Rayo Vallecano next week.
It is most likely that Flick will prefer to rest Araujo in light of the readiness of Inigo Martinez, to prevent any aggravation of his injury.
Araujo missed the first half of the season for Barcelona after being injured in the Copa America with Uruguay, so the club will be very cautious with him for fear of another long-term injury that will end his season.
