Real Madrid has suffered another setback after young player Juan Martinez was confirmed to have suffered an ACL injury during Friday’s training session with the first team.
The 16-year-old Martinez was promoted to the first team for the first time this season, and coach Carlo Ancelotti had planned to rely on him to fill the gap in the heart of defense due to injuries and departures.
According to media reports, Martinez will now need surgery and will be sidelined for at least six months.
Martinez’s injury is a major blow to Real Madrid’s plans, as the club had intended to not sign a new defender this summer and give the young player a chance with the first team after recent positive reports about him.
Due to this injury, Real Madrid may now have to turn to the market and sign another center-back, considering that the team only has Eder Militao, Antonio Rudiger, and Jesus Vallejo until the beginning of 2025.
