Spanish media reported that Barcelona star Pedri will miss Sunday’s match against Valencia due to a sudden illness.
Until Saturday, Pedri was in good condition, but suddenly he suffered from a severe cold with vomiting and diarrhea, which made him unable to be with the team on Sunday, hours before the match.
According to the newspaper “Mundo Deportivo”, Pedri’s condition is unstable, and coach Hansi Flick will most likely exclude him from participating against Valencia.
After that, Flick announced the Blaugrana list for the match against Valencia and officially excluded Pedri from the upcoming confrontation in the 21st round of La Liga.
In general, the German coach intended to make some changes in order to give the players rest, and the most prominent options before him were to rely on Fermin Lopez and Frenkie de Jong primarily in midfield.
The Valencia match represents an important bottleneck for Barcelona on the local level after the recent draw with Getafe, and Real Madrid’s victory on Saturday, which temporarily widened the gap to 10 points in favor of the royal club.
It remains to be noted that Pedri participated with Barcelona in 31 matches this season in all competitions, during which he scored 4 goals and made 4 other goals.
