Criticism towards Mahmoud Abdel Moneim “Kahraba” escalated after the modest level he showed in the Al-Ahly and Pachuca match in the semi-finals of the 2024 Intercontinental Cup in Qatar.
Kahraba replaced striker Wissam Abu Ali in the second half of the match that ended in a goalless draw in regular time.
The two teams resorted to extra time, where Kahraba got the easiest possible opportunity to score after a wonderful pass from Percy Tau, but the Egyptian player wasted the one-on-one with Pachuca’s goal in a very strange way.
Kahraba did not stop there, if he had wasted Al-Ahly’s victory in extra time to some extent, then he certainly deprived the Red Devils of reaching the final in penalty kicks.

The former Zamalek player took on the task of taking the decisive penalty kick, which if Al-Ahly had scored it, it would have officially reached the final, despite the presence of players with more experience and quality than him in taking kicks.
Unfortunately for Kahraba, his shot was blocked by the goalkeeper, causing Al-Ahly to lose the easiest opportunity to qualify to face Real Madrid at Lusail Stadium on Wednesday.
Kahraba was excluded from Al-Ahly’s camp last October after his quarrel with sports director Mohamed Ramadan and coach Marcel Koller, and was fined a hefty one million pounds at the time.
In general, the player has been subjected to a wave of criticism recently due to his very poor physical condition, in addition to his failure to compensate for Wissam Abu Ali on most occasions.
