Did Messi intentionally avoid a cold match with Inter Miami?

There have been many reports that Lionel Messi claimed to be injured in order to not participate with Inter Miami in the Kansas City match in the CONCACAF Champions League due to the severe cold.

The CONCACAF Federation announced that the match was postponed for 24 hours due to an expected snowstorm in Kansas City, and the cold weather is expected to continue until the following day.

This match will be the coldest match in the United States since the Colorado Rapids and Portland Timbers match in 2019, when the temperature reached -7 degrees Celsius.

Messi does not want to participate in such conditions, according to press reports, so he claimed to be injured, before Inter Miami coach Javier Mascherano came out and responded to that.

The Argentine coach denied these rumors, and said in a press conference, “Leo is 100% ready and I confirm that he will play the match.”

Had the match not been postponed for 24 hours, the players would have played the match in temperatures of -17 degrees, and the weather is expected to be better next Wednesday when the match kicks off at 7 p.m. US time.
