Robert Lewandowski suffered a severe injury during his participation in the friendly match between Poland and Turkey on Monday, only half an hour after it started.
As revealed by the Spanish media, Lewandowski suffered a tear in the biceps femoris muscle.
Due to this injury, the 36-year-old will not be able to participate in Poland’s first match in Euro 2024 against the Netherlands next Sunday.
Lewandowski is supposed to be ready to participate in some minutes in the second match in the group stage against Austria, although there are doubts about that as well.
What is certain is that the Barcelona star will have fully recovered before the third group match, which will be against the French national team on June 25.
Lewandowski represents the striking force of the Polish national team, and nothing is more evident than that he is the all-time top scorer for his country, having scored 82 goals in 150 matches in all tournaments.
It is worth noting that Poland failed to pass the group stage in its last 3 participation in the European Nations Cup competition.
