Real Madrid star Rodrygo expressed his disappointment at not being included in the list of candidates to win the Ballon d’Or 2024.
France Football magazine had named 30 names of candidates for Ballon d’Or, 7 of which were Real Madrid players, without including Rodrygo despite his effective role with the Merengue in achieving the double last season.
This caused a great controversy, so much so that Neymar decided to support Rodrygo and wrote to him via his Instagram account “One of the best 5 players in the world”.
In turn, Rodrygo commented on not being included in Ballon d’Or list by saying “I was disappointed when you saw that, I think I deserved to be on the list”.
He also added “I don’t want to belittle the players who are there, but I think I deserved a place”.
He continued “I was very surprised, but I can’t do anything, it’s not my decision”.
He added, “I want to win all the titles in football and I have already achieved a large part of them. I am happy at Real Madrid, the best club in the world, and playing there encourages me every day and motivates me to work better.”
