Egypt National Team responds Rumors of Zizo and Coach Micale Feud

Mohamed Barakat, a member of the Egyptian Football Association board, has denied any disagreements between the Olympic team’s star Ahmed Sayed “Zizo” and coach Rogerio Micale.

A look of anger crossed the face of the Zamalek star when Micale substituted him in the second half of Egypt’s match against Uzbekistan at the 2024 Paris Olympics, which the Pharaohs won 1-0.

Rumors immediately began to spread about Micale’s anger at Zizo’s reaction to being substituted, and that a crisis had erupted between them that could result in the player’s absence from Egypt’s remaining matches in the Olympics.

Barakat came out to the Egyptian media to respond to this matter, saying, “There are no problems between Zizo and Micale, and all players, young or old, are subject to substitution.”

He added, “Now we are only focusing on the Spain match and we have hope of winning the match and qualifying for the quarter-finals.”

Spain has secured qualification for the quarter-finals after defeating the Dominican Republic 3-1, while Egypt comes in second place in the group with 4 points, and a draw against La Roja is enough for them to join them in the next round.
