English media reported that Wolverhampton has settled on the identity of its new coach after sacking Gary O’Neill on Sunday evening.
The Wolves have suffered a lot this season with O’Neill to the point that they occupied the penultimate place with only 9 points after the first 16 rounds of the Premier League.
The English club announced on Sunday evening the sacking of O’Neill following the defeat to Ipswich Town on Saturday 2-1.
The Wolverhampton management has settled on appointing Al-Shabab Saudi Club coach Vitor Pereira to succeed O’Neill in leading the Wolves until the end of the current season.
The English club management has already contacted Pereira, who expressed his enthusiasm and acceptance of this task, and the agreement between Wolverhampton and Al-Shabab remains to resolve the matter.
The Portuguese coach’s contract with Al-Shabab includes a penalty clause, and Wolverhampton is ready to pay its value for the coach’s transfer to Molineux Stadium as soon as possible.
Pereira took over the youth team last season and managed to keep them away from the relegation zone. This season, the Lions are in good shape, occupying sixth place with 23 points.
This will be Pereira’s first assignment in the Premier League, having previously worked in Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, China and the German second division.
