Egyptian media revealed that the referees committee of the Egyptian Football Association decided to impose a heavy penalty against referee Mohamed Adel, the referee of the Zamalek and Al-Ahly Bank match.
Mohamed Adel’s decisions and his assistants were controversial after he awarded three questionable penalty kicks during the match.
Despite Zamalek’s 3-2 victory, the club announced through its official spokesperson its dissatisfaction with the refereeing and considered that the two Al-Ahly Bank penalty kicks were not valid in any way.
Al-Ahly issued an official statement after the match in which it requested that the task of managing the refereeing be assigned to a foreign expert, considering that what happened in the Zamalek and Al-Ahly Bank match was not promising.
According to recent reports, the referees committee decided to exclude Mohamed Adel from managing any matches in the Egyptian League for a period as a penalty for his controversial decisions.
At the same time, Mohamed Adel and his assistants are not expected to be present in any match for Zamalek or Al-Ahly Bank soon upon their return from the suspension period.
It remains to be noted that the technical director of the arbitration committee, Ibrahim Nour El-Din, held a hearing session for the arbitration team in the past hours to discuss the errors and then issue decisions against them.
