FIFA has decided to suspend Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez for two international matches due to his inappropriate behavior.
During the last international break, Martinez made an obscene gesture towards Colombian fans and also assaulted a photographer in the stadium, which FIFA considered offensive behavior in clear violation of the principles of fair play.
Thanks to this decision, the Aston Villa goalkeeper will not participate in the next international break scheduled to start on October 7.
Thus, Martinez will miss protecting the goal of the Argentine national team in the matches against Venezuela and Bolivia in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers for the South American continent.
It is worth noting that the Argentine national team leads the qualifiers with 18 points after 8 matches, during which it suffered only two defeats, the last of which was against Colombia in the last international break.
