FIFA bans Italian player over Jackie Chan

FIFA has found Como’s loanee to Cesena, Marco Curto, guilty of racism and has banned him for 10 matches.

The incident dates back to pre-season, when Como played Wolverhampton Wanderers in a friendly, with Curto taking part in the match.

The Italian called South Korean Hwang Hee-chan “Jackie Chan”, which was deemed racist at the time and led to a complaint being filed with FIFA.

As usual, FIFA is not lenient with racism, which is why it has banned Curto for 10 matches, with half of the sentence to be served immediately and the other half suspended for two years.

The player will be required to perform community service and undergo training and education with a FIFA-approved organisation.

It is noteworthy that Wolverhampton announced its welcome of FIFA’s decision and considered it in an official statement to send a clear message that racism and discriminatory behavior will not be tolerated in football or society.
