FIFA rejected Al-Ahly’s decision to place the “Half-Earth Champion” logo on its jersey.
The Egyptian club had defeated Al-Ain 3-0 and was crowned champion of the Africa-Asia-Pacific Cup, qualifying to face the winner of the Americas Derby in the Challenge Cup next December.
According to the newspaper “Youm7”, Al-Ahly officials sent a request to FIFA to place the “Half-Earth Champion” or “Three Continents Champion” logo on the team’s jersey this season, but this request was rejected.
FIFA confirmed to Al-Ahly that it alone has the right to grant any of its own logo to any club, and accordingly, the Red Devils cannot place either of the two logos rejected by Gianni Infantino’s administration.
Accordingly, Mahmoud El-Khatib’s administration completely abandoned the idea and Al-Ahly’s jersey will remain as it is after some pictures of a new jersey were published that the administration is looking forward to launching soon.
FIFA’s refusal to use this logo raises questions, given that the cup that Al Ahly raised after the Al Ain match included the image of the three continents, but it seems that the International Federation sees this as an exaggeration and may open the door to useless logos for various clubs in the future.
It is worth noting that if Al Ahly wins against the winner of the Americas Derby in Qatar on December 14, it will meet Real Madrid in the Intercontinental Cup, also in the capital, Doha.
