Saudi media reported that Roberto Firmino is on the verge of leaving Al-Ahli in the upcoming winter transfer period.
The coach of the “Castle of Cups”, Matthias Jaissle, had asked the Al-Ahli management to terminate Firmino’s contract after a noticeable decline in his level, and to sign another striker in January to strengthen the attacking power of the Jeddah club.
Rumors have circulated in recent weeks that Firmino is on his way to return to the Brazilian League and end his career there, but recent news reveals that he will return to Europe again.
According to what was reported, the 33-year-old is very close to joining Jose Mourinho and playing for Fenerbahce with a contract for a season and a half.
The Turkish club will not pay money to sign Firmino except for his salary, as Fenerbahce will first wait for Al-Ahli to terminate the Brazilian’s contract by mutual consent between the two parties and then sign him for free.
The former Liverpool star joined Al-Ahli in the summer of 2023 and since then has played 53 matches in all tournaments with the “classic” shirt, during which he scored 15 goals and made 10 others. This season, he played only 12 matches, during which he scored 3 goals.
